Aloha from Hawai`i Nei!
You got pimped by TwoBeerQueers.com on their latest episode; and as a budding homebrewer, I decided to check out your site. Love what I'm hearing on the first episode, and it would be awesome if you could somehow incorporate video as well. Also, are you planning on incorporating tips on designing original recipes?

Thanks and keep up the awesome work!

Hey Brad,

Finally got the 'show on the road' ... Great! Great idea!

I'd like to throw out another online supply store called "Midwest Supply" ( http://www.midwestsupplies.com/ ). In general, they have the best prices, including just $60 for a complete beginner's home brew kit (less brew kettle). They have good prices on ingredients, a wide variety of malts for all grain brewers and both dry and liquid malt extracts, and a great selection of kits to choose from. I like to get my hops at www.freshops.com, which sells whole leaf hops at fantastic prices. A comment on the brew kettle .. I recommend going as BIG as you can! I recommend starting with a 30 to 32 qt. kettle, either stainless or aluminum (I have both). This will give you plent of room so that boil overs are not a problem, and also allow you to do a full wort boil when you are ready ... and you know how important a full wort boil can be to the quality of your homebrew. I know of some guys who even use the cheap 'enamel stock/canning pots' which you can buy at places like Walmart and Target. For finding deals on S.S. or Aluminum stock pots, let Google be your friend! You mentioned Charlie Papazian's book, which is a good one, but I think listeners should also check out John Palmer's book, which you can actually view *online* at: http://www.howtobrew.com/intro.html .

You and Phil are right .. home brewing is a great hobby, and you get to meet some fine people. There is a good Homebrew Forum at the BeerAdvocate website, and more help via a USENET newsgroup. Of course, if you have a home brew club in your area, that would be really advantageous. If not, you might be able to find a 'mentor' by visiting one of the aforementioned homebrew forums. One last resource ... BYO (Brew Your Own) magazine ... almost a must have, once your home brewing career takes off!

Keep up the good work! Hope to hook up with you and Doug at a fest soon.
Cheers!
